Cristiano Ronaldo wins FIFA World Player of the Year, then drops another hint he’s off to Real Madrid

C-Ron is taking Spanish lessons

Hardly a surprising outcome, but a deserved one I am sure most people would agree. Cristiano Ronaldo has picked up the FIFA World Player of the Year award, becoming the first Premier League player to take the title. He said: “It’s an overwhelming moment in my career and I’d like to dedicate this award to my family, friends and colleagues.”

Perhaps more interestingly, I’ve just watched a Spanish TV interview with the man himself in which he spoke fluently in Spanish (ie the language Real Madrid contracts are written in). When the reporter complimented C-Ron on his Castilian language skills, he replied (in Spanish, of course): “Thanks, I’ve been learning.”

Maybe he’s just banging a Spanish teacher or something. I don’t know why you have to jump to conclusions, Rob.

It’s not that uncommon for the Portuguese to speak Spanish, you know.

Incredible the fact a Portuguese speaks Spanish, well,as a Portuguese I think I can say even more, increíble yo hablar castellano (the same as previous but this time in Spanish, subject in wich I had 0 classes).Don’t start making movies where there aren’t any

    J and Joao,

Yes, I’m aware that many Portuguese people speak Spanish but I don’t think Ronaldo was one of them until very recently.

The point is he’s gone out of his way to tell Spanish television that he was been learning Spanish.

well, i am spanish, and this is a nonsense. 98% of the spanish population cant speak portuguese, and the same for portuguese people about spanish. on the other hand we can (more or less) understand portuguese and viceversa, because both languages come from latin. but its just the same with italian. italian is even closer to spanish than portuguese. of course this understanding would only be about 35 or 40% of the conversation.

lol, yeah, i guess you had 0 spanish lessons.

and last, you can bet real madrid is signing CR9 this june. its done. even more than done, with future president florentino perez. but dont worry, ferguson will find a suitable winger to sustitute cr7, he is a great manager even though he is old and sometimes losses his mind when he opens his mouth.

  8. [...] Spanish lessons and CR9 trademark should come in useful very soon [...]
