Real Madrid-Osasuna official’s mistakes analysed in detail

Spanish referee Alfonso Perez Burrull has been, quite rightly, taking a lot of stick over the past couple of days after a dreadful performance in the weekend’s match between Real Madrid and Osasuna. The highlight (or lowlight) of an awful display of refereeing was Burrull’s decision to send off Osasuna’s Juanfran Torres for two bookable offences, both of which were supposed dives in the penalty area.

Spanish TV stations have sprung to Osasuna’s defence with evidence showing that, in fact, both decisions should have resulted in penalties. The icing on the cake is that cameras caught Burrull requesting that if Juanfran was “going to dive, at least do it properly”.
