USA stun Spain to reach Confederations Cup final
Remember we told you that Spain full-back Joan ‘Rivers’ Capdevila had taken a bit of a pop at the USA’s Jozy Altidore? Just to refresh your memory, Capdevila said of his Villarreal team-mate: “Yesterday he sent me a message and told me that we had to be careful. But his Spanish is not so great, so I think he made a mistake.”
It turns out no mistake had been made: Altidore meant every single mangled Spanish word. See the guy in red getting turned ridiculously easily before hitting the deck? That would be Capdevila. See the guy completely out-muscling him and scoring the goal? That would be Altidore.
Congratulations to the USA. You’ve done it - you’re now the best at every sport on the planet*… except cricket. How’s your spin bowling, Jozy?

Wow, this is the USA’s biggest win in a while. Well done!
Nobody here was quite prepared for this to happen, but perhaps we should have been. Sure, Spain won Euro ‘06, but before that it had always been “Spain could never win when it mattered”. Perhaps the Choke is back?
