AC Milan central defensive partnerships you never thought you’d see: Oguchi Onyewu and Michael Mancienne

Italian giants set for unusual looking defence

Following their surprise signing of USA international Oguchi Onyewu, AC Milan are now being linked with a transfer that would see young Chelsea defender Michael Mancienne join him at the San Siro. Highly-rated Mancienne is being touted as a possible makeweight in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans to bring Andrea Pirlo to Stamford Bridge.

That would open up the slightly bizarre scenario of one of the biggest clubs in traditionally defensively proud Italy fielding an English-speaking central defensive partnership.

Alternatively, this could be a load of rubbish. Would Chelsea really part with their best young defender in return for yet another 30-something midfielder?

young and inexperienced but full of potentials and did well in the past six months.

Thats will not be too safe for milan at this time.No experience

Why sell off a rare Chelsea youth product for a player who’s fairly similar to Ballack…the immobile, 30ish, “great passer of the ball” is not what we need. Mancienne is unproven but he has pace and can develop into a quality, versatile player. Much of Chelsea’s squad are quietly creeping toward 30, the last thing we need is to sell of the young blood for an old Italian who’s past his best.
