Hannover goalie dead after being hit by train
Germany keeper Robert Enke has died after he was hit by a train at a level crossing near to Hannover. The 32-year-old’s death is being treated as suicide by police.
The German football federation (DFB) said in a statement: “The German team has learned of the death of Robert Enke with great shock.”
The Hannover player, who previously played for Jena, Borussia Moenchengladbach, Benfica, Barcelona, Fenerbahce and Tenerife, had been tipped to be Germany’s first-choice goalkeeper for next summer’s World Cup.
Enke’s daughter Lara died in 2006 of a rare heart condition when she was just two. He leaves behind his wife, Teresa, and an eight-month-old daughter the couple adopted in May.

RIP used to get him on FM
What a waste of life if he just ended his life like that. Condolence to his families and may he RIP.
RIP
Too bad. He just managed to step out from Oliver Kahn and Jens Lehmann’s shadows and this happens. Tragic.
RIP
I really feel sad abt it.
I guess we really never know what most people are going through. Gives you a moment of pause….
Very sad…As Mohamed says at least careerwise, things were looking so good for him.
I wish his wife and child the best of luck, it will be a stuggle without him.
Just goes to show really, we all think if we were footballers everything would be fine, reading about it, seems as though when his daughter died he just wanted to do aswell despite all the money he was getting and such, I just can’t believe no one could help him but he feared they’d lose another daughter if his depression was made public, it’s so sad. RIP and I hope his wife has the strength to carry on with their adopted child.
