After announcing controversial plans to offer the naming rights to Newcastle’s historic St James’ Park to raise cash for the club, Mike Ashley has found a firm with just the financial clout he was looking for… his own company.
The stadium will be given the nasty new name sportsdirect.com@StJames’ Park. Yes, it sounds more like an email address than a football ground.
Then again, Ashley is fond of email addresses. After all, it was his preferred method of receiving bids for the club.
just when you thought newcastle couldn’t be mismanaged any further…
