Liverpool are still hoping their could beat Manchester City to the signing of Feyenoord wonderkid Rodney Kongolo.
City were widely reported to have wrapped up a deal for the youngster in October, but there has still been no official confirmation of his signing.
Now the Daily Mail reports that Brendan Rodgers’ side have not given up hope of winning the race for the 16-year-old.
They claim the Reds are still in talks with Kongolo’s agent over a possible move to Anfield next month.

Marseille defensive midfielder Giannelli Imbula was the subject of a Chelsea scouting mission on Wednesday night.
The Blues watched the 21-year-old in action against Borussia Dortmund.
While reports in the French media suggested that Florian Thauvin was the subject of their interest, the Daily Mail claims that Imbula was the true target.
Chelsea are keen to bring in a holding midfield player and have been linked with a move to bring Benfica’s Nemanja Matic back to Stamford Bridge. He left as part of the deal that saw David Luiz join the club.
But the Blues are keeping their options open and are keen to see if Imbula can perform at Matic’s level. Given that he’s five years younger and would be at least £5m cheaper, he is a more appealing buy if he is deemed to be of sufficient quality.
Arsenal have a long-held interest in Imbula. They have been tracking him since he made his debut as a 17-year-old at former club Guingamp.
