Half-a-dozen players to bring to Middle Eastlands
1. David Villa
Undoubtedly a top quality striker but not tied to one of Europe’s super-clubs. Valencia seem resigned to losing their star striker when he decides to go and were grateful to retain his services this summer. The money on offer at Eastlands could prove to be the deciding factor.
2. Joe Cole
You sense he is not quite as settled at Chelsea under Big Phil Scolari as he once was, and could be tempted by the move. Scolari could be eager to make space for his own signings and see off one of the key protagonists of the Mourinho era.
3. Sergio Ramos
He seems to have been around for ages now but he is still only 22 and is one of the best young defenders in the world. Versatile enough to play at right-back or centre-back. And the route from Real Madrid to Manchester City has already been established…
4. Alexandre Pato
The Brazilian youngster has made a big impression already at AC Milan, but is likely to remain a rotation player for the near future. First team football and a fistful of dollars could convince the Duck to move to the Premier League.
5. Nemanja Vidic
Would pride allow Fergie to sell him? It is doubtful, but if the price was right the decision might be taken out of his hands. There would be something about buying their fierce rivals best players that would no doubt delight City fans.
6. Diego Capel
He is going to be the best left-winger in the world in a few years and it will be better business to buy him from Sevilla now than from Real or Barca in a couple more years. Only 20 but bags of potential.
Who do you think City should splash the cash on?
