A team of players who know what it’s like to be in Robinho’s Nike Mercurial Vapors

The then Arsenal keeper was cleared of rape and sexual assault in 2005 when he was accused by a student who came back to his flat after meeting in a West End nightclub.

2. Frank Sinclair
One of Leicester City’s La Manga Three who were locked up in a Spanish jail after a group of prositutes claiming to be businesswomen alleged they had been raped by the players. They were all later cleared.

3. Celestine Babayaro
During his Chelsea days, the Nigerian international and two co-defendants were alleged to have tricked two 20-year-old women into visiting his flat and indecently assaulting one of them. The judge directed the jury to find Babayaro not guilty after a five-day trial in 1999.

4. Jonny Evans
Arrested of Manchester United’s raucous Christmas party of 2007, but cleared of any wrongdoing.

5. Titus Bramble
The then Newcastle United defender was one of the players who was named by internet forums and then newspapers as being one of the footballers suspected of a gang rape at a London hotel in 2003. No charges were brought against him.

6. Michael Duberry
The former Chelsea and Leeds defender was accused of indecent assault after allegedly putting his hand up a woman’s skirt at a Leeds nightclub (hmm, I see a pattern emerging). The claim was made during another man’s rape trial but there was insufficient evidence to prosecute Duberry.

7. Keith Gillespie
Another of the Leicester boys who shared a cell in a Cartegena jail.

8. Jody Morris
Had rape charges against him dropped in 2004 when the Crown Prosecution Service decided there was no realistic chance of obtaining a conviction. Again the alleged incident took place in Leeds.

9. Carlton Cole
Implicated in the same manner as Bramble, but also cleared of any wrongdoing.

10. Paul Dickov
The final Leicester City player. Was the only one of the trio to be married at the time of the allegations.

11. Robinho
As we reported today, the Manchester City attacker is out on bail after being questioned by police over a rape at a Leeds nightclub.
