Extended half-time gets Toure in trouble
As mentioned in our 10 conclusions, Arsenal skipper picked up an unusual yellow card during last night’s clash with Roma. Both Toure and William Gallas were late out of the Arsenal dressing room at the end of half-time and the seemingly oblivious referee started the second half without them. Toure frantically ran onto the pitch and was booked for entering the field of play without the referee’s permission.
Toure blamed the incident on superstition that he always comes onto the pitch last and was waiting in the dressing room for Gallas to finish receiving treatment. He said: “I’m always the one that comes last on the pitch and so I was waiting for William. When I came on I didn’t know I couldn’t come on straight away.”
But let’s look at this a bit closer…
Gallas didn’t pick up a booking because he wasn’t in so much of a hurry and Toure overtook him at the end of the tunnel, which means that yellow card or no yellow card he wouldn’t have been the last one onto the pitch anyway!
