Premier League threatens blogs over use of club crests

You’d think they’d have better things to do, but not so

The bullies from the Premier League have been threatening yet another blog over content they did not like via its cyber bailiff NetResult. Our good friends over at The Offside committed that most heinous of crimes: using football club crests. We tried to warn them, but they wouldn’t listen. They just recklessly put those logos on their site and watched the money roll in.

What do you mean ‘what money’? You know, all that money that you get when you put football club crests on your site. I’m going to be rich, rich beyond my wildest dreams!

The Premier League might like to consider that, while it is on the gravy train at the minute, these things tend to pass. Serie A was in fashion for a while, now it struggles to get a UK television deal. Then La Liga was the best league in the world. Premier League, by all means enjoy your turn but trampling all over the little people isn’t going to stand you in good stead in the long-term.

just cite fair use and tell them to shut the feck up!

“s30.—(1) Fair dealing with a work for the purpose of criticism or review, of that or another work or of a performance of a work does not infringe any copyright in the work provided that it is accompanied by a sufficient acknowledgement and provided that the work has been made available to the public.”

Seriously, what is up with these idiots? How do they think it helps them to antoginse the supporters?

I am with Raph. We recently on a wallpaper site got in big trouble as well for the use of the logos. It is so stupid. I mean, yes, they are property of the Premier League and the FA, but they can’t control every single time that the logos are getting used. :S Silly, just silly.
