AC Milan owner makes death flight gaffe
AC Milan owner and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi highlighted the dangers of wearing his football and political caps at the same time by sparking a diplomatic row between Italy and Argentina. Berlusconi’s version of Argentina’s ‘death flights’ under the regime of dictator Jorge Rafael Videla, who ordered political prisoners to be drugged and dumped into the sea from planes, has sparked outrage in South America.
Berlusconi alluded to “that Argentinean dictator who did away with his opponents by taking them up in an airplane with a football then opening the door and saying ‘it’s a nice day outside go and play”. He then remarked that the tactic was “funny but dramatic”!
Shouldn’t he be busy funding a David Beckham transfer bid rather than offending South American countries?
