Champions League game called off
The Asian Champions League tie between Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal and Saba Battery of Iran last night was called off because of a sandstorm. While the closest the Premier League’s finest get to sand on a Champions League night is a sneaky trip to the Caribbean if they collect enough yellow cards, the sandstorm apparently made the tie unplayable.
Visibility in the Saudi capital Riyadh is officially 0 metres, and officials took the decision that watching 22 people resembling partially-sighted chronic asthmatics was not the advertisement for Asian football that they wanted to send out and postponed the match.
