Dean Windass is discovering the hard way that journalism can be a thankless task after again getting himself into bother through his blog. The Hull City striker, currently on-loan at Oldham Athletic, released a statement through the Latics’ official website to moan about his treatment at the hands of the press.
He said: “I am annoyed that people have written that I was going to leave the club when that isn’t the case. I came out and said that I was disappointed I didn’t play on Monday; I’m a passionate man and I want to play football.
“I’m disappointed that this situation has come about but I can’t stop people saying things in the press.”
Fair enough you might think, except the journalist spreading these vicious rumours was one Dean Windass. In his blog on the ITV Sport website, Windass wrote: “After playing just three minutes of Oldham’s last two games I’ve told the chairman I’m not returning to the club. I feel let down and angry.”
Journalistic standards today. Tut tut. And if you recall, Windass had used the same blog to generate a loan move away from Hull in the first place. Who needs an agent when you could just get your own blog?
