1. That couldn’t really have gone much better for the English clubs. Their two main threats – Barcelona and Bayern Munich – will scrap it out amongst themselves.

2. We told you it would be Liverpool v Chelsea. Spooky!

3. A Manchester United-Arsenal Champions League semi-final sounds tasty. Anyone for pizza?

4. Man Utd will be wary of the threat posed by Porto after being knocked out by them, but they are not as dangerous a prospect at they were under Jose Mourinho.

5. The Manchester United v Chelsea rematch is still on.

The full draw:

Quarter-final draw:

Manchester United v Porto

Liverpool v Chelsea

The Man U v Chelsea rematch might be on, but I think it’s unlikely given that Chelsea have to go through Liverpool and Barcelona to get there. Surely this isn’t EPL hubris?

Barca vs Bayern is such an amazing matchup. Goals, goal and more goals.

Operating under a couple of assumptions here…let’s assume ManU & Arsenal advance to the CL finals AND the FA Cup Final, throw in their pending league fixture…and they could face each other 4 times in the space of 3 weeks!

Two good things about Liverpool-Chelsea part five. 1. We’re getting it out of the way now. 2. One of them will be eliminated.

United get stuck in a semi-final pool with both the weakest teams remaining…typical.
