Arsenal quote machine Andrei Arshavin has been up to his usual tricks – supplying the kind of quotes journalists can normally only dream of from PR-trained modern players. Despite the Gunners comfortably winning their match against Newcastle, the Russian still felt the need to speculate on why the Magpies had not taken the lead when they were awarded a penalty.
He said: “The penalty was a good opportunity to open their account. But I thought Martins was scared of our goalie, who saved the penalty”
OTP is not quite sure what there is to be scared about, hair aside. Personally, I would be much more scared of the guy in the yellow v-neck behind the goal. Maybe that is a more likely reason. And perhaps Arshavin would be well-advised to learn the names of his team-mates before those of opposition strikers!
