Scientists devise perfect penalty
Are you ready for this? Basically, the penalty has to be hit hard into the top corner. Earth-shattering stuff, we know. Hopefully Liverpool John Moores University didn’t invest too much money into this research.
To be fair, it does get a tiny bit more complicated than that but does it tell us anything we didn’t already know? Probably not. Professor Tim Cable, director of sport and exercise sciences, declared: “Many factors make up a ‘perfect penalty’. But we’ve finally nailed the key elements.”
Find out how to take an unstoppable penalty after the jump.
- The shot must not be any slower than 65mph
- The ball must cross the line exactly 50cm from the crossbar and one of the posts
- The run-up should be five or six paces
- The run-up angle should be 20 to 30 degrees (don’t forget your protractor)
Are you listening, Robinho?
