Don’t worry Chelsea fans – they won’t be gone for long

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has agreed to pull on the shirt of West Ham United once again – and he is taking team-mate John Terry with him. The ex-Hammer, now an Upton Park hate figure, will wear the claret and blue in a testimonial match for Academy Director Tony Carr.

Fellow West Ham graduates Michael Carrick, Joe Cole and Rio Ferdinand have also pledged to play a part, and Lampard is bringing Terry along too.

Carr told The Sun: “Frank and John Terry have both agreed in principle to play. It speaks volumes about Frank that he is prepared to do that for me after everything that’s been going on.”

I guess they won’t be kissing the badge though.

I think this speaks volumes for the respect and esteem Tony is held in and I would like to say that I feel the abuse Frank and JT got on Saturday was in many ways justified but if they are doing this then I would love to see a full house for Tony and this time they get cheered for doing it and supporting one of ours, that would show them that we are a great club with great supporrt and appreciate their gesture.

West ham fans have got a lot of stick in the press and radio at the banter being thrown at Lampard, but you never mention the fact Lampard wrote some pretty strong stuff in a book about the hammers, and in press statements slagged the club and the fans off, so where i agree with Terry after the Chelsea win on saturday that fans should take it when Lampard plays well, you have to remember where it all started. We dont care about Lampard good luck to the kid, but get over it for f#*ks sake its banter.

Fair play to both of them if they do come back for Carr’s testimonial……

As for the banter on Saturday, it was not vile but, it was truthful and offensive.

There can be no bannings or police manhunt like the incident with the Spurs fans and Sol Campbell as it was all based on truth.

The long and the short of it is that Lampard has let his children down and Terry’s mum is a thief.

Whilst it is not in the best taste I feel Lampard has been totally responsible for his current familymkpredicament (constant womanising and the “roasting” video tape etc…) but Terry, whilst being a classless individual has no control over the actions of his family and it was a tad harsh on him.

If Lampard had kept his louth shut and not slagged West Ham off at every opurtunity over the last few years it would all have been dead and buried and long forgotton by now. You reap what you sew……

This testimonial is a great chance for Lampard to repair some of the damage he has done in the past and hopefully help to bring an end to it all.

I would also like to point out that even with the situation as it is, there was no chanting over the sad loss of his mother at any stage either last year or this. Which goes against the picture that the tabloids like to paint of West Ham fans.

“I guess they won’t be kissing the badge though.” – Depends on how much West Ham play them, don’t recall them kissing badges ’til they got 100k+ a week.
