Gareth Barry and co enjoy a sing-song for an esteemed audience
Apologies for the atrocious quality of this video, but it is worth posting regardless. Manchester City took time out from their pre-season tour to South Africa to pay a visit to a national legend. The Citizens popped round to see Nelson Mandela and wish him a Happy 91st Birthday.
The squad gave Mandela a rousing version of Happy Birthday to the former South African president.
Skipper Richard Dunne told Sky Sports News: “It was a real honour for everyone, I think, for us to be given the opportunity to go and meet such a legendary, iconic man was fantastic, and we all had a fantastic day.
“I think we were all a little bit in shock afterwards. We were all excited to meet him first of all, but as soon as he walked in the room it was just complete awe. Everyone went quiet.
“He seemed really sharp when he was chatting to the lads and told us some stories. It was great. Then on the bus on the way back everyone was so amazed what had happened.”
Except Stephen Ireland, who appears to be more in awe of the Sky Sports camera!
