Gunners manager didn’t so much as smell the Thomas-Wilshere spat
West Brom’s task of beating the Arsenal youth team was made considerably more difficult last night when ex-Gunner Jerome Thomas was sent-off just before half-time. Thomas clashed with Arsenal youngster Jack Wilshere, and was dismissed after slapping him.
In a quote that sounds like it is a satirical made-up quote but is genuine, Arsene Wenger said: “My eyes are not great and my ears are even worse. I could not hear anything from the touchline.”
West Brom manager Roberto di Matteo was less diplomatic and said that he had been disappointed with Wilshere for refusing to shake Thomas’ hand and for a comment he made which led to the slap.
