Champions League final referee banned for middle finger salute
The Swiss referee who took charge of Barcelona’s Champions League final victory against Manchester United has been banned for three matches for sticking his middle finger up at fans.
Massimo Busacca was pictured making the gesture during a match between FC Baden and Young Boys. The official claims he was provoked by “verbal abuse” after asking for a stadium announcement to be made warning fans to stay off the pitch.
In a statement, Busacca said: “I lost my cool.” He also apologised for the incident.
You can expect to see more of Busacca and his fingers at next year’s World Cup.
