Diego Maradona’s earrings seized by police
Argentina boss hands over jewellery to Italian cops
Diego Maradona has had his earrings seized by Italian police determined to make him pay a €37m tax bill once piece of bling at a time. The Argentinian legend has the unpaid taxes hanging over him from his time at Napoli between 1984 and 1991.
The jewellery, worth £3,600, was taken at a health clinic where the under-fire coach had booked in for treatment for stress and weight problems.
On a previous visit to Italy three years ago, police took two Rolex watches from Maradona. Police said they were acting on a judicial order authorising the seizure of anything of value “within plain sight”.
