Top five conclusions England 2-1 Slovenia

Posted by - September 5, 2009 - Conclusions, England, International, Lists

1. Wayne Rooney would never, ever dive to win a penalty. Ever. You could have seen that coming after his comments this week!

2. It is a shame he didn’t tell a press conference that he was too honest to score a goal for England so that might have acted as an omen too. Wazza had a bit of a cow’s backside and banjo day.

3. Jermain Defoe shouldn’t start against Croatia. OTP might be a lone voice in this, but we would much rather see him coming on from the bench and start with a more physical presence along with Rooney at kick-off.

4. Perhaps Glen Johnson isn’t as much of a cert for the right-back slot as we thought. He keeps getting caught out defensively which is a pretty major flaw for a defender.

5. Croatia will have seen enough to give them some confidence ahead of Wednesday’s clash.

Glen Johnson might be transformed into a flying right midfielder if his poor defensive performances continue!
