Svennis set to turn down North Korea role

Notts County director of football Sven Goran Eriksson is reportedly set to reject an offer to coach North Korea at next summer’s World Cup. The communist state wanted Eriksson to take the role on a temporary basis for the duration of the tournament.

A ‘close friend’ of Eriksson’s said: “He has no plans to go out there. He was asked but he said no. I believe it was for a technical adviser’s role. He is entitled to have his other business interests outside of Notts County.”

Well, with human rights conditions in the workplace so bad at Meadow Lane that Sol Campbell had to walk out, maybe North Korea would be a step too far for Eriksson.
