Video: Mexico v El Salvador held up by a swarm of bees

Bees! Quick, call the fire brigade!

The World Cup qualifier between Mexico and El Salvador was held up for ten minutes after a swarm of bees decided to make their home in the stadium. The pesky swarm decided El Salvador keeper Miguel Montes’ net was the perfect vantage point to watch the game. Montes disagreed.

After discussions by various men wearing security passes it was apparently decided that it was best to treat the bees like a fire. Buckets of water and fire extinguishers were used in an attempt to disperse the insects.

The broadcaster used their special slo-mo skillz camera to turn the coverage into a nature documentary (and also packed in about a year’s worth of commercials!) while the match was delayed.
