Video: Goalkeeper booked for delivering pitch invading cat to safety

Croatian club Medjimurje Cakovec had their goalkeeper booked for removing a cat from the pitch during their match against Sibenik.

Ivan Banovic plucked the feline pitch invader from the field of play and went to release it under a fence behind the goal. As far as we know, the cat lived happily ever after. Banovic, on the other hand, was booked for his efforts for leaving the pitch without the referee’s permission.

In fairness, he does offer the cat to everybody else behind the goal before taking it to the fence himself.

And a player would never be booked for this sort of good deed in the Premier League. Chelsea even had a player called Petrescu once upon a time.

A good deed, but he could have given the cat to the ball boy instead of going so far from the pitch to release the cat himself.

Good grief Nadzir, don’t suck the humour out of it :)
