Revealed: The curse of Chelsea’s dark hooped away kit

Blues apparently like their blue to be royal, not navy

Chelsea’s away kit is cursed judging by their results so far this season. The Blues have lost all four games they have played in their navy, dark blue and fluorescent yellow change strip, while they remain unbeaten in the home kit and white third strip.

The peculiar trend was spotted by our friends at Footy Factor. They spotted that Chelsea’s four defeats this season, including Saturday’s loss at Manchester City, came when they donned the new it.

The club lost 3-1 at Wigan, 2-1 at Aston Villa, on penalties in last week’s Carling Cup clash against Blackburn, and 2-1 against City wearing the hooped jersey.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, Carlo Ancelotti has watched Ashley Cole (against Wigan), Salomon Kalou (against Blackburn) and John Terry (against Manchester City) pick up injuries wearing the cursed kit.

Is it time for it to go the same way as Manchester United’s grey kit?
