Liverpool owners do their best to get fans back onside
The son of Liverpool owner Tom Hicks has become further embroiled in his father’s dispute with Liverpool supporters after sending an abusive email to a Liverpool fan. Tom Hicks Jnr sent the foul-mouthed response to a supporter who forwarded an article questioning the actions of the club’s owners.
Stephen Horner, a 29-year-old Liverpool fan from London, received an email from Hicks Jnr instructing him: “Blow me, **** face. Go to hell. I’m sick of you.”
Horner was genuinely shaken. After he had stopped shaking, he contacted the News of the World.
He said: “I’m genuinely shaken. I can’t believe a member of Liverpool’s board would write to a fan in this way. It sums up how the club is being run at the moment. I simply emailed copies of an article which would make every Liverpool fan worried, suggesting the club’s debts will prevent investment in the team.
“I was hoping for a reassuring response instead I was insulted. I don’t want an apology, I just want them out of the club.”
I suspect you’ll have to settle for the apology, Stephen.
