Northampton offer a free holiday to anyone who buys a season ticket

A good deal or a load of Cobblers?

Northampton have launched a deal offering a free week’s holiday for fans who buy season tickets. Supporters who their tickets before March 5 will be offered a week in self-catering accommodation in Spain or Tenerife.

The deal does not include flights, but the League Two outfit are confident of attracting a large crowd to Sixfields next season.

Chairman David Cardoza said: “I think this is groundbreaking stuff; it’s a fantastic deal. You get a week’s holiday and all your football for a season, it’s a great deal so hopefully it’s popular.”

Season tickets cost £199 and £80, so for £8 per match and a free holiday it does seem to be a decent deal. Then again, we haven’t seen the accommodation.

Cardoza added: “If the football’s rubbish you can go on holiday and forget about it – not that it will be rubbish!”

The public will be the judges of that, David!
