Becks’ South African dream is over
David Beckham is set to miss out on this summer’s World Cup after pulling up with an ankle injury during tonight’s match between AC Milan and Chievo. The injury is thought to be a torn Achilles tendon which would almost certainly rule him out England’s squad for South Africa.
The former England skipper fell down clutching his left ankle as he prepared to kick the ball with no opposition player around him. The 34-year-old managed to squeal “it’s broken, it’s broken” in the direction of a TV reporter as he was stretched off, but AC Milan boss Leonardo later confirmed that the injury was thought to be a torn Achilles tendon.
