Video: Outrageous wind own goal

Mother Nature (og.)

This crazy goal from Germany is proof if proof were needed that lower league football is a completely different game to top-flight action. This wouldn’t happen to many Bundesliga teams.

The TSV Grunbach player thumps a goal-kick upfield only for the wind to thump it back into the net giving TSV Wimsheim a 1-0 lead.

This never would have happened if Hilario had taken the goal-kick.

So wait, the referee awarded this?

One of the very first tenants of the goal kick law in the FIFA Laws of the Game is: “A goal may be scored directly from a goal kick, but only against the opposing team”

While the ball was likely in play from having left the penalty area, the law clearly states that if ANY infringement of the laws occcur (ie, the ball entering the team’s own goal from the goal kick), the kick is to be retaken.

God, I’m disgusted with the state of refereeing in the world today.

Yeah, I was taught that something of that nature wouldn’t count either. But then again, how can you resist if it’s going to give you 15 seconds of fame.
