Video: Sulley Muntari’s crazy 85-second red card

Spurned midfielder’s revenge on Jose Mourinho?

Inter Milan’s Sulley Muntari hit back at his manager’s decision to make him play just 10 minutes of their game against Catania – by taking just 85 seconds to get sent off!

Well, that’s the only explanation I can find. It’s either that or he has to go down as one of the stupidest players of all time for this crazy crash course in bad decision making.

Having been brought on to replace Esteban Cambiasso, Muntari was almost immediately booked for a rash challenge on Jorge Andres Martinez.

If that wasn’t stupid enough, seconds later Muntari decided it would be a good idea to handle the resulting free kick, in the box, not only giving away a penalty but also getting himself sent off.

D’oh!

The man’s accumulated a daft amount of red cards over his career. In the season before he joined Portsmouth he was sent off 3 times in only 27 Serie A matches (taking only 16 of those to hit the 3 mark) – not to mention picking up 9 yellows, too. That was his 11th career red – it seems he just can’t help himself.
