News as inevitable as it is disappointing

Worrying news for Manchester United and England fans as Wayne Rooney hobbled off the pitch at the end of the Champions League clash against Bayern Munich with a potentially serious ankle injury. There is no word yet on the extent of Rooney’s injury but he appeared to be in some discomfort.

And injury time woes were not in short supply for United supporters as Ivica Olic’s late strike gave Bayern a 2-1 victory over United. Sir Alex Ferguson is now facing overturning the deficit without his star striker.

I’m more worried about the Chelsea match at the weekend! Don’t care what they have to do, just hope they can get him somewhat fit for that match. I don’t even support Man Utd, just don’t want Chelsea winning the league.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Mancs perform without their best player and whether or not the media will jump on SAF’s back for negative results.

How they perform? Er, they scraped a 4-0 win at the w/e without him…

United are more than capable of at least earning a draw w/o Rooney which would keep them on top, so Chelsea have to come out and be incisive as they need the 3 points to have any chance.

If Ballack or Deco start then we deserve to come up second best again.

United will definitely miss Rooney on Saturday and for the Bayern game next week. Who else do they have that can replace Rooneys 30odd goals this season?

Beating Bolton 4-0 without Rooney is one thing; beating Chelsea and Bayern with only Berbatov up will take a minor miracle.

I would imagine they could play Berbatov up front with Giggs or Park tucked in behind him or Berbatov with Marcheda?

BTW, whatever became of Danny Walbeck?
