Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho reckons Barcelona will accuse him of causing Icelandic volcano eruption which disrupted their travel plans ahead of their Champions League semi-final clash. The ex-Chelsea manager was responding to a post-match tunnel bust-up with Barca midfielder Xavi.
Barcelona were unhappy with Mourinho’s instructions not to water the San Siro pitch before the match and that the game was overseen by a Portuguese referee.
Mourinho clearly interpreted the comments as sour grapes and took the opportunity to take a bit of a dig when asked whether Barca’s long coach trip had affected their performance.
Mourinho said: “The way they are, tomorrow we will probably read I am to blame for the volcano.”
Although the Special One is probably not quite that special, he does move in those circles.
He added: “Maybe I have a friend in the volcano and I am responsible for that.”
