Video: Danny Rose’s other spectacular strike

Tottenham youngster only scores from outside the box

After his stunning goal against Arsenal on Wednesday night, it has now emerged that Danny Rose’s only previous senior goal was also a long-range strike… into his own net. He found the net with a 25-yard own goal while on-loan at Watford last season.

Rose attempted a slide tackle on a Norwich player but only succeeding in looping the ball over his own keeper.

I did write about the above goal on the Arsenal Times board as I was present that day at Carrow Road as I support Watford:

Danny Rose didn’t do much for Watford, so it remains to be seen whether he can do well for Tottenham.

I have bad memories of the above match as I went to Norwich with my parents so I could go to the match and my parents could look round the city, but as we are Jewish and were observing the festival of Passover (when we are unable to consume products containing flour, which ruled out getting a burger), we found it difficult to find somewhere to eat and eventually had to get some sausage and chips, which we ate on an uncomfortable bench without having a soft drink in front of us as the place where we bought the food didn’t sell soft drinks. In normal circumstances, we would have got at McDonald’s or something, but we couldn’t due to the festival of Passover.

And the result didn’t help my mood as Watford lost 2-0 in an important match in the quest to avoid relegation. Thankfully, Watford survived and finished 13th in the table.
