The movers and shakers in England’s potential World Cup squad

Rob Green – Pulled a couple of superb saves in his 45 minutes that will have caught Capello’s eye.

Ledley King – Not at his best, but everyone – including Fabio – knows what he is capable of for England. His knee held up and he weighed in with a goal.

Aaron Lennon – Gave an excellent account of himself in a brief substitute appearance to push himself to the front of the speedy right wingers queue.

Michael Carrick – Barely noticeable until he was substituted. Cemented his spot down the pecking order from a fit Gareth Barry and left himself at risk from a couple of outsiders.

Theo Walcott – Ineffectual and indecisive in attack. Lacked the final ball and shown up by Aaron Lennon’s cameo.
