Top five conclusions: Argentina 3-1 Mexico

1. Another match, another reason for video technology. Even the linesman wanted to change his decision after spotting a replay of Carlos Tevez’s offside goal.

2. You can complain about Tevez’s first, but not his second. Just an unstoppable strike.

3. Don’t get too close to Gabriel Heinze with a camera.

4. On the How to Stop Lionel Messi list we can add: train with him for years. Rafael Marquez marqued him out of the game for large chunks.

5. It looks like Sir Alex Ferguson might have made a very good signing in Javier Hernandez.

That, or constantly step on Messi’s feet, trip him or knee him in the back of the legs. other than that, yes, Marquez really did reel Messi in.

Oh, except for the 2 goals he assisted on.

I did noticed that unlike his card-happy friends, this official didn’t seem to think anything deserved a booking…even the blatent shove in the back to Heinze.

A point of order about Diego Maradona…he keeps referring to critics who doubt his team…I don’t think many doubt the abilities of the squad, they doubt the abilities of the coach. And up to this point, he hasn’t actually been in a tough game where he’s had to make difficult tactical decisions to get back into a game. It’s pretty much all fallen for Argentina so far. If he can outfox the Germans then he’ll have genuinely impressed.
