Ex-England star attempts to over-populate the planet
Steve McManaman was discussing the pressure of taking a kick in a penalty shootout on ESPN when he unwisely decided to introduce some figures he plucked from thin air into his argument.
The former Liverpool and Real Madrid man warns that it is much more difficult to take a penalty knowing a billion people are watching on the TV. He is immediately concerned that this figure might not be as impressive as he had hoped and, in the style of Dr Evil, scales his estimate up to one hundred billion people.
Since the world population is currently just shy of seven billion, that’s either a lot of World Cup-obsessed aliens or some creative viewing figures from ESPN’s advertising people!
