David Beckham has revealed a secret desire to be a professional Lego builder if he hadn’t made it as a footballer. The ex-England skipper mentioned his love of the little plastic bricks during a live webchat.
Overlooking the fact that being paid to build children’s toys is an extremely niche market, Becks hints that he might want his kids to go into the trade.
And if Victoria was worried about what Goldenballs was up to during his lengthy stays in Milan, she need not anymore.
Beckham said: “This is going to make me sound really weird but when I was in Milan I had such a big amount of spare time. I found online that you can buy a Lego model of the Taj Mahal so I bought it and started building it, I only built some of it because I got injured halfway through – not while building the Lego!.
“I know it’s not a career but I love doing it and would like to be a professional Lego builder. My boys are the same, they’re obsessed with it.
“Football has affected my family in an unbelievable way, to travel to so many places, if I’d done something else like been a Lego builder, I wouldn’t have been able to do anything like that.”
Oh, now he is saying it like he really believes it is a career path. Yes, David, and if you had done something else like been a Lego builder, you would have been homeless unless you had built yourself a house of Lego which you probably wouldn’t have got planning permission for and which would be dismantled brick-by-brick before your professional Lego builder’s eyes.
Still, having yesterday ruled out a career in management, Becks still might move into the Lego trade when he hangs up his boots.
