Egyptian star makes unannounced inspection visit

Middlesbrough’s chances of offloading Mido took a severe blow when he ruined a potential loan move to Turkish side Kayserispor by being “arrogant”.

The tubby Egyptian allegedly turned up uninvited at the club’s training ground to make a surprise inspection of the facilities on offer.

Officials at the Turkish club are not impressed and have now called off any move for the 27-year-old.

Kayserispor spokesman Suleyman Hurma: “I took Mido around two months to consider our offer which is a very long time. Now he come without invitation after buying the plane tickets himself.

“Mido might be a good player but he is arrogant and has serious attitude problems. We are not going to sign a player with such attitude. I hope this will be a lesson for him.”

You would think so, wouldn’t you? But we suspect not.

If it is any consolation to Kayserispor, Egypt’s answer to Matt Allwright was suitably impressed with what he saw.

He said: “I’m so surprised. The stadium and the training ground are all superior to European standards. I am excited to play here.”

Yeah, about that…
