Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich building nightclub at Stamford Bridge
Blues get their own club
In a novel approach to stopping their players getting themselves in the tabloids with their nightclub antics, Chelsea are building a luxury nightclub at Stamford Bridge. Sort of a Premier League equivalent of bringing the mountain to the Funky Buddha.
The £20 million project is being built underneath the stadium at the request of owner Roman Abramovich.
A club insider told the Daily Star: “It’s all being made to the boss’s exacting standards. He wants a place he can relax in after the game, and will invite the playing staff down there with him. It will be one of the hottest places to hang out in London when he’s finished with it. He doesn’t do things by halves.”
The club is based on one Abramovich saw in the USA and will feature a £150,000 waterfall at the entrance, as well as private booths with TV screens for specially invited guests.
The “intimate” club will hold up to 500 people and could be completed as early as September.
