Just a vowel away

Football fans got themselves into a bit of a frenzy today when Sunderland left-back (in Steve Bruce’s opinion, at least) Kieran Richardson seemingly came out as being the first openly gay footballer in the Premier League. The stir on social networking sites has eventually died down as it emerged that the person making a statement on his homosexuality was actually Hollyoaks actor and near-namesake Kieron Richardson.

With the acting profession not exactly being the homophobic cauldron of the world of football, the news has died down and is no longer trending on Twitter.
