Rogue coach banned. Again
Togo’s football federation has suspended a former national team coach after discovering he was the man behind a ‘fake’ Togo side which lost a friendly match in Bahrain earlier this month.
Tchanile Bana organised the friendly game in Riffa, which was played without the federation or FIFA being notified. It is not difficult to work out why they made Bana the prime suspect. He was already suspended for two years by the the government for holding an unauthorised match in Egypt in July.
Antoine Folly, a member of the disciplinary commission, said: “Full light must be thrown on the Bahrain affair in order to unmask and impose sanctions on his accomplices operating within the Togo Football Federation.”
Bana coached the real Togo national team between 2000 and 2004.
