Burton Albion set to play 47-year-old goalkeeping coach Kevin Poole
Veteran goalkeeper Kevin Poole is set to start in goal for Burton Albion tonight in their Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tie against Rotherham. The 47-year-old goalkeeping coach, who is the oldest player in the Football League, wanted to hang up his gloves last season, but was convinced to register as a player for one more season as backup for first-choice Adam Legzdins.
But with Legzdins ruled out with a dislocated a finger, the ex-Leicester and Birmingham City goalie will be thrust into first-team action this evening.
“I will jump into the game and go and enjoy it,” said Poole.
Just as long as you don’t jump too vigorously, Kevin. Think of the hips.
Don’t forget, if he does well/Legzdins is still injured you could watch Poole in action on Saturday. OTP has tickets to Burton’s game against Wycombe to give away, along with a host of other Football League clashes.
