Striker probably not set to face Villa tomorrow

Is Michael Gyasi the happiest kid in the land?

Yesterday Chelsea were able to confirm the signing of German born Gyasi for a down-payment of £10,000, and more money will be due if the player turns professional. The signing of an 11 year old from a club at the bottom of League Two truly emphasises the extent of scouting networks at the top level.

Chelsea reportedly became interested in the player after an Under-10s match a year ago, in which Gyasi scored twice.

Ok, I remember being 11 years old, but it was a sort of whirlwind of Maths homework, pogs and tazos, and two bags of crisps at breaktime, all punctured by football on a Saturday. Hey ho, I guess the phrase goes “If you’re good enough, you’re old enough.”

He still looks older (and taller) than Shaun Wright Phillips though.
