Dynama Brest assistant manager Yuri Pudishev got an unexpected comeback when he was brought on as a sub during his side’s defeat to BATE Borisov yesterday (yep, the big Brest-BATE clash). The 56-year-old has obviously still got what it takes since the Belarus FA’s website named him Brest’s man of the match.
Manager Yuri Puntus seemed a bit contradictory when asked whether it was all a bit of a joke to chuck his middle-aged mate onto the putch.
He said: “I don’t think that Pudishev’s appearance was a clown act. I’ll be glad if someone can assist him to get in the Guinness Book of Records.”
Well, if there’s a section of the next edition of the Guinness Book of Records dedicated to the oldest player to make an appearance in the Belarussian league then it should be mission accomplished.
