Sudden death goalie shootout fun
The Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tie between Sheffield Wednesday and Chesterfield went right down to the wire on Wednesday night. The match went to penalties, of which each side ended up taking penalties.
The mathematically astute among you will have noted that this meant the keepers had to take a penalty each. The Owls’ Nicky Weaver and the Spireites’ Tommy Lee (not that one) both stepped up. The question was: would they be any good?
Well, the jury’s still out on this. With one superb spotkick and one that made Chris Waddle’s Italia 90 effort look like a close call, we reckon it probabaly averages out at ‘meh’.
