Wolves’ cunning plan to thwart Wigan

Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Karl Henry saw red on Saturday for this reckless (and pointless) lunge at Jordi Gomez’s legs. Fortunately, Gomez was fit enough to score a beautiful free-kick later in the game, but he was lucky not to have a broken leg.

Latics boss Roberto Martinez seemed to think Henry’s actions were selfish more than anything. He said: “In a way I didn’t want to see the sending off. It changes the whole game. We prepared the game to play against 11 men.”

Yeah, Henry! Never mind the nearly broken leg: how dare you ruin Wigan’s preparations by selfishly putting your team at a numerical disadvantage.
