The worst team in Britain?

Cornish village side Madron suffered a bit of a heavy defeat last weekend as they lost 55-0 to Illogan RBL Reserves. Just as well they weren’t up against the first-team!

The struggling side could have predicted a tough game against top of the Mining Division side Illogan. Before the game started, they already had a goal difference of -148 and has scored just two goals in their previous nine games. The situation was not helped when six players cried off on the morning of the game and they had to play with seven men!

Illogan took full advantage though as they ran in a goal every two minutes, with 11 different players finding the net. Luke Abbott-Smith was the main beneficiary with ten goals, with Gareth Pitt (8), Luke Helan (7), Ryan Treloar (6), Jason Buckley (6), Mikey Pascoe (6), Nick Ward (3), Lee Harris (3), Stuart Peters (3), Adam Callaway (2) and Dave Thomas completing the scoring.

Bizarrely, pointless Madron – now with a -203 goal difference – are not even bottom of the table. Fellow strugglers Storm have been docked points and are sitting on -3!

Brilliant. I see they only managed to lose 27-0 the previous week!
