Sunderland striker Darren Bent has revealed that Newcastle fans chanted “Newcastle, Newcastle” while pelting his Land Rover with beer bottles whilst Bent and a friend shopped in Newcastle on Friday evening.

Bent’s best friend’s girlfriend was in the car at the time, and Northumbrian Police were called to the scene , but no arrests were made.

As is Bent’s way, he reported the incident on Twitter, tweeting: “So Newcastle Utd fans attack my car with glass bottles today while I’m in a shop. Then proceed to attack it while best friend’s girl is in there, come on now. Bit too far no?”

Please report this properly. Read the report by the police is states ONE glass was thrown at Bent’s car there was no damage to the car and no one was injured. I’m not condoning the one idot who threw the glass but lets get the facts straight. Bent does have a record of saying stupid things on his twitter.

Even a Boro fan would know it was a Mackum car cos there were extra windscreen wipers on the inside
